Lebron James Gets Ticketed Driving 101 MPH on Highway
January 14, 2008
Note to LeBron James: Having a vanity license plate on your white, four-door Mercedes-Benz that reads "KNG OF AK" does not mean you can ignore the posted speed limits, even if it is your 23rd birthday.
The Cleveland Cavaliers forward was travelling down Interstate 71 in Ohio's Medina County on Dec. 30, when he was issued a speeding ticket at 2:43 a.m. Details about the citation are limited, but James is alleged to have been going about 165 kilometres-per-hour in a 104 km/h zone when a state patrol cruiser stopped his car. Cleveland lawyer, Colin R. Jennings, filed a not guilty plea for James last Tuesday in Medina Municipal Court and a hearing is expected for Feb. 11 at 1 p.m..
Justice may have to wait, however, as the King is expected to be in Orlando that night for a game against the Magic. Neither James nor his agent have issued a statement.
Despite James' run-in with the law, he attended his 23rd birthday bash, which was held at rapper Jay-Z's 40/40 Club in Las Vegas , later that day.
